A request from a BHB member. A spiritual 'counter-stamp' to [link] , for those wishing to express a different opinion.

Love and tolerance is an all or nothing endeavor: one cannot say with a clear mind, "I will love and tolerate X, but never Y". Sure, some things may be more difficult to love and tolerate, and that's normal. There are other things that you may never agree with, and that's fine too. But at the end of the day, we're all human and we deserve to be treated with respect, regardless of how staunchly opinions differ.

To clarify, because I know these questions will come up at some point:

1) Homosexuality is not canon in MLP:FiM, no one is denying that or attempting to defend that pretense. However, straying from canon is hardly a reason to denounce someone as a "fan". If people had to hand in their "fan" card every time they deviated from canon, then logically, everyone who's ever written a crossover, shipped a couple that isn't canon or portrayed characters as their adult/child selves are all no longer "true fans".

2) "This stamp does not diametrically oppose the one that inspired it, so why is it a 'counter'?" Because while the stamp and the description are fine (I disagree with them, but I respect the stamp-makers right to an opinion), actually attempting to discuss it respectfully with the maker (a fruitless endeavor) reveals what they really think: not that shipping same-sex ponies revokes your fan status because it's not canon or kid friendly, but because it's disgusting, immoral and not worthy of love and tolerance.

3) For those concerned with the E-Qual-Estria drama: I do not support subjugating or forcing the owners to accept same-sex pairings into their group, despite their aspersions to the contrary. It is their group and their decision, and their aim is to create a group that is as kid-friendly as possible (insofar that extreme violence, gore, political pieces etc are avoided). There should be at least one entirely kid-friendly MLP:FiM group on DeviantART.

Right. Pretty rich words coming from someone who flips out, name calls, accuses, shames and insults people who express their disagreement, even when they're being far, far more respectful than you deserve (like myself).

Edit: Forgot to mention two important things.

1) Please don't go and harass the stamp author, even if you strongly disagree.

2) Pre-emptively, I know that one of the Christfags will (predictably enough) have some sort of reaction, be it as a comment, journal or an addendum to the original stamp. Don't link me to them and say "Look, see what they said!". I'm not giving them the satisfaction of reading or acknowledging anything they might write.
